Mysterious - Theme and Background

Maybe it’s the top hats, or maybe it’s the severe hairstyles and tightly buttoned collars. Whatever the reason, the Victorian era evokes feelings of repression and austerity that murder mysteries and horror movies cut their teeth on.

You’ll be welcomed to the scene of a frosty London street, where a derelict manor house dominates the skyline. The game is presided by three enigmatic characters, each of whom appears to be up to no good. All we really know about them is that they’re a Lord, a Lady and Baron. The design is good and fairly engaging, definitely one of Pragmatic Play’s better looking games. The three characters appear on the reels as well as on to the left of the grid (more on this below).

Despite the game only having one special feature, it’s both busy and rewarding enough to keep the gameplay interesting. Besides, there’s plenty to look out for in the base game alone. Here’s how things play out:

Wild Modifiers

There are 3 different wilds in the base game that change according to the game mode. Each one is represented by its own troubled-looking Victorian character. The highlighted character on the side of the reels signifies which mode and wild is active on the reels. Players have no control over which one is highlighted.

No matter which one is engaged, they will always act as normal wilds by substituting for any of the regular symbols. Here’s how each wild is characterized:

The Lord Wild will reveal a multiplier of 2 x or 3 x whenever it’s part of a winning combination. If more than Lord Wild lands, then they’ll multiply each other for extra wins.
The Lady Wild will expand to form a stack of mystery symbols to hopefully create more winning combinations. This will only happen if the Wild is part of an initial winning combination and only expands after the initial prize is paid out.
The Baron Wild will change nearby symbols into more wilds when part of a winning combination.

As Free Spins games go, this one is fairly exciting. This is largely due to the fact that players can choose which type of bonus game they’d like to kick off.
