Universal Slots Casino

Universal Slots Casino carries the tagline ‘play real pokies’ – a term for gambling and slot machines originating in Australia. Despite the online casino’s title, it’s not just slots that are on offer but also a range of table games, a bunch of instant games and some live casino entertainment. The site launched in 2018 but it forms part of the Mirage group which runs a handful of other Bitcoin-friendly casinos you may have com across. Each of these are licensed in Curaçao, and Universal Slots is no exception. ‘Space adventure’ is the theme here, with the site encouraging players to become members of the crew and take a rocket ship ride into outer space. Should you do it? You’ll have to read on to find out.

Universal Slots Casino – The Highlights

• Lives up to its name by hosting thousands of slot games
• Supports CAD and multiple cryptocurrencies
• 24/7 live chat support available

All new players are welcomed aboard the spaceship with a cash match offer of 100% up to C$650, with 300 Free Spins on top. This bonus is split into three parts and distributed like this:

• First deposit of 100% up to C$150 + 100 Free spins
• Second deposit of 50% up to C$250 + 100 Free spins
• Third deposit of 50% up to C$250 + 100 Free spins

The bonus terms state that a minimum deposit of C$40 will be required to trigger each bonus, and it must be used up within 5 days of activation or it’s forfeited. That’s not very much time! There are also wagering requirements attached: 40 x on the first deposit, and 30 x on the second and third deposits. All bets placed during bonus play are capped at C$6. There’s also a maximum cash out limit of up to 30 times the deposit — this feels kind of unfair. Certain games will be restricted if you’re betting with bonus cash, so check out terms and conditions for an updated list of these.

Those that prefer not to tussle with wagering requirements can opt for the online casino’s 0 x wager free spins promo. This will give you 30 Free Spins on Age of Asgard, or 50 Free Spins on Aldo’s Journey. However, in order to qualify you’ll need to deposit C$40 or C$70 respectively, so it’s particularly worth it for slot fans who were planning on depositing that amount anyway.

Slots & Jackpots

With a name like Universal Slots, you would be terribly disappointed if slots weren’t a big deal. In fact, the site offers about 3,000 different games across all styles, themes and volatilities. Part of this collection is one of the largest selection of jackpot games I’ve ever seen. Players will have a multitude of opportunities to win life changing amounts.

Table Games

There are too many different table games to mention. These range from classic options to more modern twists, so players can take their pick based on preference. Among others, those ready to get playing will have access to Dream Catcher First Person, Lightning Roulette First Person, Blackjack, European Roulette, American Blackjack, European Blackjack Gold Series, Premier Roulette Diamond Edition, Deuces and Joker Poker, Aces and Faces Mega Poker, Jacks or Better Poker, and Baccarat.

Virtual Games & Video Bingo

This is the smallest section on the games menu with just 5 virtual games and 3 bingo games. Players who fancy something a little different will be able to try out UpNdown, Virtual Racebook, Rush Live, Stud Poker 3D, Lucky Keno, Rio Bingo and a couple other titles.

Scratch Cards

Like the thrill of instant gratification? Then you’ll probably enjoy Universal Casino’s range of Scratch Card games. These take on a number of styles and themes, but ultimately the game mechanics remain the same. Roll the dice on an unknown value for a pre-set chance at a prize.

Video Poker

There are over 90 video poker games to choose from, a range which is becoming less available with a lot of online casinos who are choosing to focus on slots and live casino instead. Here poker lovers are free to indulge themselves with many different styles like Joker Poker, Bonus Poker, Five draw Poker, Deuces, Turbo Poker and many more.

Live Casino

For players who want to immerse themselves in the real time casino experience, the live section of Universal Slots Casino is waiting to greet you. This is made up of several games hosted by Evolution Gaming, NetEnt, Vivo Gaming, and Ezugi. That means Canadian players will only have access to part of the games menu, but this does include Baccarat, Sic Bo, Blackjack, Dragon Tiger, Game Shows, and Poker.

The site has a space adventure theme, and players are called crew, with imagery of galaxies and space shuttles liberally dispersed in blacks, blues and purples. The target audience is obviously the younger generation who don’t require the comfort of a traditional casino setting. But over and above the galactic theme, one of the first things that struck me was the online casino’s weird language. It definitely hasn’t been written by a native English speaker. This isn’t a problem in itself, as I still got the gist of what was being said, but it does cause some concern when it comes to things like terms and conditions. Additionally, my exploration did also uncover a few dead links scattered about.

While the site isn’t necessarily badly structured, it feels as though it’s been thrown together rather quickly. However, most concerning of all was that after signing up I was sent an activation email entirely written in Spanish. The email also didn’t contain an activation link, despite the site requiring one in order to commence playing. Two more emails followed closely, an English translation of the initial email, and finally, an activation link.

At first I thought Universal Slots was running without any sort of rewards program because it didn’t have its own section in the navigation bar. But while browsing through the promotions page I discovered a discreet post advertising the scheme nestled at the bottom of the page. This is called the Stars Points Rewards Program. For every C$10 in bets placed, player will receive 1 Star point. 20 Star Points are worth C$1 and can be changed into cashback vouchers. All players start at the lowest rank of ‘crew’, but can work their way up to ‘Warrant Officer’, ‘Major’ or ‘Lieutenant’ for better rewards at each level.

There are a number of payment methods on offer.

Deposits:

• iDebit
• InstaDebit
• Visa / MasterCard
• Neteller
• Skrill
• ecoPayz
• Bitcoin
• Ethereum
• Litecoin
• Ripple
• AstroPay
• paysafecard
• Neosurf
• Flexepin

Withdrawals:

• Visa / MasterCard
• iDebit
• InstaDebit
• Neteller
• Skrill
• ecoPayz
• Wire Transfer
• Bitcoin
• Ethereum
• Litecoin
• Ripple

All deposit methods are instant, but withdrawal times will vary depending on the method chosen. The site’s terms state that it may take up to two business days in order to process a withdrawal once all the requested account verification documents are received and confirmed. Withdrawals are also subject to a maximum limit, which is $500 per day and $3,500 per week — or the equivalent in your chosen currency. This is unlikely to be high enough to satisfy high rollers.

The FAQ section is a little sparse and isn’t easy to read through. The site does have 24 hour daily Live Chat though, which is good because you might want to clarify a few things before signing up. Your last option is to reach out via Email, which is works for those busy, on-the-go type of players.

The reality is that I felt as though I could not trust the site. The strange communication and dodgy functionality didn’t make me want to transfer my cash in. I need to feel safe when playing online and Universal Slots failed to deliver that feeling. Even if you can get past that factor, the low withdrawal limits were a turn off, and aside from the wagerless free spins, the welcome bonus promo is too strict on requirements.

Ultimately the site lacks basic functionality, so despite the definite slot range on tap, I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending it right now. Perhaps once they address all the glitches I’ll feel more comfortable offering a nod of approval — but for now, abort mission!
