Break Da Bank Again Respins

Break Da Bank Again Respin is the third installment of Microgaming’s bank-themed slot. This is probably evident from the unreasonably long slot title, the first in series was called an acceptable Break Da Bank, while each new version got another word tacked on the end.

But naming choices aside, this 5 reel, 9 payline slot harnesses 3 special features set to High volatility. Despite this, the maximum bet sits at just 36.00, but with a top prize of 4,400 x your bet it still stands a good chance at being an exiting option for high rollers. Let’s get straight to the nitty gritty to find out if the theory fits reality.

Break Da Bank Again Respin - Theme and Background

The slot opens with a chorus of chatter and bustle, the sort of ambient noise you’d expect from a public space like a bank. This noise is gradually overlaid by cheesy heist music when you land a winning combination, or if you come close to activating a special feature. The reels are populated by gold ingots, wads of cash, stacks of coins, cheques, diamonds, and bank vaults. The most exciting symbol is probably the game logo, as this is set to a potentially hugely rewarding 5 x multiplier (more on this later).

These symbols are joined by A, K, Q, J and 10 card suits in bright colors that stand out rather sadly against the other themed symbols. I could think of at least 10 more symbols that would have worked better in their place, but at the rate these slots are churned out, I suppose there isn’t always time for attention to detail. Comparing this third generation to its two predecessors, you’ll discover that the design and theme hasn’t altered much. The variance comes with the special features, which we’ll be getting into in more detail below.

Break Da Bank Again Respin - Gameplay

Break Da Bank Again Respin runs with 3 main special features, each one offering a different level of potential in terms of wins possible. Below I’ll get into how they work, as well as my actual experience with each one.

Wilds

Of all three features this one is probably my favorite because it works very simply, yet effectively. The Wild features as you would expect, making up winning combinations by substituting for any adjacent symbols. Where it’s making is a difference is due to the 5 x multiplier that’s attached, meaning every winning combination will be multiplied by five. This allows for potentially huge winnings if it combines with the game’s top paying symbols.

I made out with 2 wins of C$80.00 each within a matter of minutes, a very rare coup, especially during the base game.

Respins

Forget the usual respins that get thrown in at random or added in to free spins features. Break Da Bank Again Respin is very true to its name. After each base game spin, you’ll have the option to spin any of the 5 reels again. And again, and again. In fact, you can repsin each of them as many times as you like. But here’s the thing — these aren’t free respins. Each respin has its price, and the price will fluctuate based on the combined value of whatever is displayed on the reels at the time. The more potential the combination has, the more it will cost you.

So what’s the point of paying for these individual reel respins? Well, they cost less than a single normal spin, and offer the opportunity to trigger the free spins feature (see next) or make up big wins with the Wilds (see above).

Break Da Bank Again Hyperspins Vault Symbol

Free Spins

If you land 3, 4 or 5 vault symbols (the Scatter) you’ll be awarded either 15, 20 to 25 Free Spins. Each spin is boosted by multipliers; 5 x for a regular win, but 25 x for win involving Wilds. During the feature, landing an additional Scatter will give you one extra spin for more opportunities to cash out. If you’re lucky enough to land 5 Scatters then you’ll get an addition 25 Free Spins. In theory, it’s a very exciting prospect.

But in practice, out of 17 spins, I only had one win, meaning that I walked away with less than C$20. That’s far, far less than I spent waiting to activate the feature.

Break Da Bank Again Respin - Payouts and Wagering Limits

Break Da Bank Again Respin comes with only 9 active lines, which would explain the intense dry spins you’ll experience here. You’ll have the option to wager anything between C$0.01 and C$4 for each line, making the slot’s actual wagering range C$0.09 to C$36. The RTP of 96.58%, is lower than average, but the difference is so small it doesn’t really affect the gameplay much. In theory the payouts are most impressive when you get to the free spins, because that’s where the slot’s maximum win can be unlocked thanks to a multiplier of 5 x and 25 x.

However, in practice you’ll be lucky to squeeze out any spendable value there, thanks to the difficulty in triggering the feature and the unaltered game that allows dry spins that eat up all your free spins. Unlike with most slots, the biggest wins are unlikely to stem from the free spins feature. Based on my experience, the slot’s biggest potential can be unlocked in the base game, thanks to the 5 x multiplier Scatter.

Break Da Bank Again Respin - Final Verdict

Final Verdict

72%

This slot may very well break da bank — but it will probably be yours. That’s not to say it’s impossible to win big, on the contrary the game offers a couple of solid opportunities for very generous payouts, but you’ll need the budget to hang in there. In terms of dry spins, it’s probably one of the worst I’ve experienced for a good long while, but my drought ended with two C$80 payouts in a row, which earned back my spend. I hated the free spins feature, which failed to deliver the goods, so instead of holding out for that disappointment, keep going till you hit a couple multiplier wilds.

The respin feature is a nice addition, offering the opportunity for a little strategy to come into play — a rare event with most slots.
