Devil’s Number fully embraces everything that comes with the dark arts. It’s set in a very upmarket but deeply sinister home library, the kind of room that might conceal dungeons behind bookshelves…but perhaps I’m letting my imagination run away with me.

Across the reels are comic book-styled graphics, and you have to give kudos to the designers for the impressive artistry behind each one. The skull potion symbol is one of the top payers, delivering anything from 3, 6 or 12 times your bet depending on how many you land — but more on this later. The symbols are also accompanied by the usual low value A to 10 royals, but these have been designed up to fit the theme extremely well.

The music is a combination of creepy echoing laughter, eerie silent undertones and full blast heavy metal music. It switches up depending on what’s happening during the game. The result is a very effective combination of eerie trepidation and downright rage.
